Earthquake Relief: Turkey and Syrian Refugees
Our hearts break for the people of Turkey and Northern Syria piecing their lives together after Monday’s devastating tragedy. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake and 7.5 magnitude aftershock have claimed the lives of over 28,000 people and injured tens of thousands more, according to the Associated Press. That death toll is expected to continue to rise. With the damage spread over dozens of cities, according to the New York Times, rescue workers have faced significant challenges in their race to save survivors. The rubble mountains of concrete and metal have been dangerous to navigate.

How can we help?
AGWM teams are positioning to help those who need refuge to find safe shelters, warmth from freezing temperatures. Provision of food and water, and distribution of hygiene products will be an essential part of our response. Regional Director for Eurasia, Omar Beiler, expressed: “We are so grateful for those upholding our teams on the ground in prayer, and wisdom for our national partner. The next few days and weeks will be important to as we show the love and compassion of Christ to our neighbors in this region who at this time are vulnerable and in need.”
