Kenton is a farm boy, born in Oregon and later moved to Missouri. As a young boy, he felt a call to be a missionary. God renewed that call while in college and he began working with Hispanics in the US, later moving to Panama to serve in missions. After serving one term in Panama, Kenton returned to the United States where he served with Convoy of Hope as the International Director for 12 years. In 2010, the Moody's came back to the missionfield full time to serve in El Salvador.
God opened doors as Kenton worked in squatter communities, starting 2 church/feeding stations and an emergency school. Also in 2012, the Moody's started the Open Door Church in a needy area of town near the bars and houses of prostitution. God has grown the church from just a handful to approximately 300 people. They moved the church to a gang-ridden area along the Pan-American highway to reach a very poor sector of the city along the former railroad. The Moody's started the Hosanna School in 2012, which reaches out to a very poor area. The school serves 355 students currently, K-4 through high school and Kenton says the secret ingredient for education with excellence begins with love. In addition, Kenton has started a clinic that serves the whole area with medical and dental care, plus a full laboratory. The Center of Hope is also located at the Open Door Church and teaches baking, gourmet cooking, and music.
Kenton became a widower in 2015 and married Eunice in 2017. Eunice was raised in El Salvador and also felt a call to missions as a teenager. She has a teaching degree and served as the Assistant Principal in the Hosanna School for several years. They serve the various ministries together and in 2021 founded the Living Free Program, a rehabilitation and reinsertion center for gang members who want to leave that lifestyle. It is the only program of this nature in all of El Salvador, which has a historic problem with the MS-13 and 18th Street gangs. You can read about what God is doing through this ministry via the digital magazine, Worldview. You can also connect with the Moody's on Facebook.
