Jeff and Wendy Garrett have been AGWM missionaries to Tanzania since 2001. Wendy came to Christ and was called to be a missionary at the age of five through her church’s bus and children’s ministry. Jeff came to Christ following his kindergarten year, was called into ministry in second grade and into missions in eighth grade. They have three boys and three girls ranging in age from 24 to 7. They are itinerating now, preparing for their sixth term in Tanzania, aiming to return by June of 2024 with their four younger children. They work closely with the leadership of the Tanzania Assemblies of God (TAG) in the TAG's second Spirit-filled strategic plan (2020-2032) of reaching Tanzania and beyond for Jesus. Dr. Barnabas Mtokambali, the General Superintendent of the TAG, says that "the key to bringing in and conserving the harvest in Tanzania and around the world is nurturing the call of God upon the lives of our pastors and upon the lives of our church members.” Since 2009, the TAG has grown from 500,000 to 5 million members in a country of 65 million people . . . and from 2,600 pastors and churches in 2009 to almost 16,000 pastors and churches today; and the TAG is on target to grow to 25 million members, 40,000 churches, 45,000 pastors, and 200 Tanzanian missionary families by 2033. Tanzania for Jesus!
